What’s on my night table this week:

Stardusy by John Gribbin

This very interesting book explains how all of us and everything on this planet we call earth is made inside stars.

Hydrogen and Helium make up 99% of the matter in the universe, and the leftover 1% that makes up everything else is continuously recycled through Supernovae.

Fact: Our Sun is 99.86% of the total matter in our solar system, two thirds of the remaining matter is taken up by Jupiter and everything else put together, a measly 0.005% makes up the remaining planets, moons, comets, asteroids
and – earth.

I feel small.

What will they think of next? Alcohol Free Beer?

“Two students from the National University of Singapore have developed a waterless washing machine that removes stains from garments within a few minutes, without the use of detergents. The AirWash, which won the ElectroLux Design Lab 2005 Award, uses negative ions, compressed air and deodorants to clean clothes; the form was inspired by the waterfall, which just so happens to be nature’s own negative ion factory. The judges took special note of AirWash’s potential to make conventional, eco-superfreaky dry cleaning obsolete. AirWash may also save lots on energy costs and water consumption.”

Nokia declares the N-Gage a failure

25 11 2005

n-gage.jpg Today Nokia’s VP of corporate strategy declared that the N-Gage mobile gaming slash phone was a miserable failure.

Sales of the unit peaked at around two million units worldwide, far short of the six million Nokia had hoped for and software publishers were not convinced it could go toe to toe with Nintendo’s handhelds.

Stick with what you know Nokia.

Why not just walk, run or jog? This invention is right up there with other transportation miracles like the Pogo Stick, Segway and the H2 Hummer.

600 bhp* per ton. Zero to 100 KM/h in 2.9 seconds!

The British made 500 Kg Ariel Atom is probably the best kept sports car secret ever. Powered by a 300+ HP Supercharged Honda Civic engine this car will smoke super cars costing ten times as much. WOW.

I feel a mid life crisis coming on… Where do I get one?
